Hello,

I had the initial audit done by Any Kuruvilla of next step living this morning. Their focus was on 3 items - boiler/hot water heater, attic insulation, wall insulation (non-basement). He was able to recommend additional attic insulation and sealing, but the other items were determine to be fine.

During my next visit on Jan 10, I will apparently sign a contract to move forward with the attic insulation (75% reimbursable), and they will install low-flow valves on all showers/faucets and replace lights as necessary.

Finally, he will recommend me to a solar panel company for evaluation, as my house was deemed to be a good candidate for that activity. This is a non-binding agreement, and I'm simply interested in learning more at this point.

As far as next steps with the GETREAL program, I was hoping to get a whole house meter installed as one of the initial households to join the program. I may also purchase a kill-a-watt meter soon and start tracking usage. I am willing to provide some household energy bills to analysis, but I'm not sure how that should progress.

Is their any additional information from the GETREAL program regarding next steps and how to evaluate my progress through the program? I would be happy to document all the steps that I'm doing if that would help, but it all of this has already been done I would really appreciate receiving additional information from the GETREAL committee.

Thank you!

My husband Dwight Gertz and I would like to join the GET REAL 100 households initiative and would like to get a renewable energy audit, use the device that tracks appliance and household energy usage and figure out how to reduce our house's footprint further.

We live at 42 Bedford Rd in Lincoln

Thanks for the inquiry, Steve. We'll be sending out a notice to all participants as soon as our meters arrive, and will are arranging for some technical assistance for those who are unfamiliar with their use or installation. Next Step Living is working on getting all of our audits in before the end of the year, so you should be hearing from them in the next couple of weeks about scheduling.

Hello - I signed the pledge last weekend, and registered for an audit. However, when I spoke to Gabe at last week's meeting, he mentioned that it would probably be late winter or spring by the time the audit could be completed. I wanted to see if the measurement devices could be made available prior to that time so that individuals could start energy savings improvements on their own. Please let me know. Thank you.
